What’s new in this release?¶
In this release we added a few features that will enable users to more effectively compare scenarios, and cross-examine the urban development scenarios they have created. We also added in a new registration process and that enables non-CRC participants to access the tool.

Some light preamble:¶
The Scenario Tool has undergone some major surgery over the past few months. Much of this update is hidden away under the hood. A large section of the tool has been reworked to allow future updates to be easier and faster to implement. Therefore, you can now reliably use and trust there is consistent results from this version! As a byproduct of these changes the tool is noticeably much more performant and stable.
Many of the changes in this update will be familiar from your previous feedback, and these notes represent the foundations for exciting new updates workshopped by the development team. . With the release of this foundational version, your feedback is captured and critical for informing our agile approach to product development. Which means, we’re excited to hear from you and hope to improve the tool in a more regular and structured set of release cycles.
- The interface has been given a facelift, and now provides a more intuitive and stable experience.
A new scenario creation screen with more responsive and clear components.
Project creation is now a more linear and clean process.
Includes a new loading screen and color scheme (with the iconic CRC teal).
Adaptation nodes are now organised based on type, with simple explanation of each. Making it easier to identify the adaptation option the user is using.
- The analytics provided by the tool have made a return in the form of charts and map visualization for a select number of scenario performance metrics.
This is a precursor to a more robust set of analysis tools. The current changes are products of laying the foundation for further tooling.
Users have access to micro-icons that enable users to change graph type, view the raw data, and download simple csv files of data tables
- The stability of scenario creation and running has been reworked.
Users now have access to meaningful information regarding the state and progress of scenarios, including real time updates regarding the current state of the simulations.
Visibility into the parameters inputted in each scenario created has been made possible. Thus making it easier to be informed of previous project progress.
The tool is no longer required to be kept open throughout the duration of the simulation. (However performance assessments must be run manually from the tool if the simulation is run without it open)
- Support for smaller devices and mobile devices has been improved with new layouts.
Many interfaces that were previously unusable on even medium sized devices have been reworked.
The layer control panel in the dashboard map has been improved and now shows a curated list of layers that are relevant to the current project.
Includes the interface for visualizing results on the map.
The charts in the dashboard have been revamped using a new library for visualization.
The poor performance of the tool has been improved and should now be more responsive and less resource hungry.
Many small wrinkles in the user interface have been ironed out. The tool should very rarely enter a completely unusable state, and overall should be more intuitive for the user. Where this isn’t the case, feedback is welcomed.
The tool can now more effectively maintain the state of your project across devices. Refreshes will also not interrupt projects, and will remain to be a handy feature for crashes.
